Juan Carlos Benavides

Juan Carlos is Managing Partner at Balandra. Juan Carlos serves as board member of Birdman and Maguey Spirits. He also co-chairs Balandra’s Investment Committee. 

JC has over 20 years of investment banking, family office, and operations experience. He spent 10 years at Morgan Stanley’s Global Capital Markets division, where he led the origination and execution of transactions for sovereign, corporate, and institutional clients across Latin America. He structured & advised landmark investment grade and high-yield transactions, including multi-currency bonds, loans, hybrid securities, structured notes, and project & acquisition finance. Before Morgan Stanley, JC worked for HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. 

JC holds an M.A. in Economics from New York University and dual B.A. degrees in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana and Philosophy from Universidad Panamericana. He is President of the Advisory Board for UNICEF Mexico and sits on the board of Fundacion Becar.
